ORIENTATIONS CALLING FOR INVESTMENT IN 

                                         BEN TRE PROVINCE

In recent years, Ben Tre has invested much  in  building important infrastructure works, especially Rach Mieu bridge and Ham Luong bridge. The opening of Rach Mieu bridge brings advantageous opportunities for economic development and exchanging goods within and outside the province. The technical infrastructure of  Giao Long and An Hiep IPs are basically completed. To meet the land use demand for industrial production, the Provincial People’s Committee has come an agreement to plan and develop from 1,400 hectares to 1,600 hectares of industrial land up to 2015 for constructing industrial parks to call for investment; and orient areas in the province for calling tourism, resorts, urban, residential services projects.

To ensure the investment attractiveness and be ready to receive investment capital, to help eocnomic development, Ben Tre province is focusing on these major fields:

-        Land plan: industrial park development planning is taken comprehensively to create land source which shall satisfy the need of industrial land. From now up to 2015, about 1,400 hectares to 1,600 hectares of industrial land shall be planned for constructing industrial parks.

-        Regarding to infrastructure such as electricity, water, transport-telecommunication service: electric and water resource have being upgraded so as to supply to industrial parks and residential areas next to new industrial parks. Ports are also upgraded to transport goods by water-way for concentration IPs.

-        Human resource: investment to build new, upgrade and increase scale of vocational training schools to supply trained human resource to Enterprises, Investors is also taken seriously. At present, there are two  vocational training colleges and many small-scale vocational training centers. A university is under construction to provide training human resource.

In 2008, trained labor rate reaches 36 per cent and it is expected to 38 per cent in 2009.

            - Raw materials source: Ben Tre province is paying attention to develop agricultural, aquacultural raw materials to meet the demand of processing industry.

-        Besides, Ben Tre province also pays much concentration to reforming administrative procedure in investment fields, improving business-investment environment, establishing effective cooperation mechanism and enhancing post-license support to build a stable foundation for attracting new investment source.
