IPC photo: opening FASV factory
After 7 months of construction, the Furukawa Automotive Systems Viet Nam Co., Ltd (FASV) 100% invested by Furukawa, Japan officially opened the factory in the Giao Long Industry Park of Ben Tre province on 9 March 2010. Some distinguished guests attended the ceremony including the Mr. Huynh Van Be, Secretary of the Provincial Party’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thai Xay, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC), Mr. Mizuki Ikuo, Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City and many high-ranking officials came from the Mother company of FASV in Japan. Furukawa Automotive Systems Vietnam (FASV) was licensed in the middle of December 2008 and it started construction in February in 2009. The whole factory was successfully constructed within 7 months. The factory is constructed on the leased land area of 35,000m2 in Giao Long IP with total registered investment of US$16 million and its output of 3.5 million of products per year. FASV is the second factory of Furukawa in Viet Nam specializing in manufacturing automotive wire harness and all products are exported directly to Japan. At the moment, FASV has attracted around 1,000 local workers with 8 production chains, obtaining 50% of designed capacity. It is reported that the FASV will operate 100% of capacity to the middle of 2010. This is only Japanese owned enterprise in Ben Tre so far. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thai Xay stated that the provincial authorities highly appreciated the investment of Furukawa Inc and committed that the province would support FASV in the process of manufacture in Ben Tre. The province ensures the sufficient supply of labour force and will solve quickly all administrative procedures to the company and it is expected that through FASV, Ben Tre will attract more Japanese investors to Ben Tre in future. In the ceremony, Mr. Xay granted the award of PPC to the General Director of FASV.
